We're Back In Business!

September 15th:  Meeting at 7PM at Batavia Public Library.  A special speaker will discuss the future of biodiesel and the VW Turbo Diesel rated at 50mpg.  All (as usual!) are invite to attend!

Well, our first official group function is over.  This is a picture of our booth at the Kane County Fair (thanks to Sigi for the great sign!).  Many of our neighboring exhibitors said attendance seemed low this year, but we had great participation from Green Party candidates & enjoyed connecting with the visitors that were there. 

Senate candidate Kathy Cummings was there on Thursday meeting with people.  Dan Kairis for 55th State Rep was there most of the fair, as was Julie Schmitt running for Kane County Board District 20.  Gerard Schmitt (no relation) for 95th State Rep was present on Thursday.  James Dusing for 70th State Rep and Sandy Lezon for 50th State Rep showed the flag on Friday.

The set up in the exhibitors' hall was interesting.  The Republicans and Democrats were in opposite corners from each other.  The Veterans Assistance Commission* of Kane County was next to the GOP.  We were 2 booths from them, and further down down on the other opposite corner from GOP and Veterans Assistance were the folks from Fox Valley Citizens for Peace & Justice opposing war and torture.  Like I said, very interesting set up! (special wave to our friends at the time share & Mr. Goodwater)

* there is a fundraiser for the purchase of a new van for transporting disabled vets to doctor appointments going on.  Please participate if you see tickets for sale.  Honor the Warriors.

Like Minded People

 The third public meeting on Rep. Mary Flowers' Illinois Single Payer health care bill (HB311) will be held at the Kane County Government Center at 719 S. Batavia Ave. in Geneva from 6-9PM on Thursday, August 14th.

Fox Valley Citizens for Peace & Justice will meet at 9AM on the first Saturday of the month at the Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren 783 W Highland Avenue in Elgin. For directions or questions call 847-742-6602.
